Apex Legends Mobile will launch worldwide this month

Apex Legends Mobile will launch worldwide for Android and iOS devices in May, developer Respawn Entertainment announced.

Mobile Design Director Jordan Patz revealed the news during a recent Apex Legends developer panel attended by VGC.

“I’m excited to finally announce that Apex Legends Mobile is coming to all players around the world in May,” he said.

Apex Legends Mobile is being developed by a dedicated team at Respawn along with Tencent’s Lightspeed & Quantum Studios, which is the group of developers behind PUBG Mobile.

Like Apex Legends on console and PC, the mobile title will be free-to-play and will not include paid elements that offer an in-game advantage. It will have its own unique battle passes, collectible cosmetics and unlockables.

“It’s an exciting time for our team right now,” Patz said. “We are finishing the soft launch and have learned a lot about the game in a short period.

“For those unfamiliar, Apex Legends Mobile is a standalone Apex game that brings the experience and world of PC and console gaming to a new audience.

“We’ve built this game from the ground up with mobile optimizations and mobile-exclusive content to make sure the game feels like Apex while still being fresh and new.

“To do that, we’re starting with 10 Legends from scratch, with favorites like Wraith, Octane, Bloodhound, and Pathfinder.

“We took players back to the classic World’s Edge and Kings Canyon and of course also added a few twists to get old-school fans excited,” added Patz.

During the panel, Respawn also revealed new details about Apex Legends Season 13. Titled ‘Saviors’ and scheduled to release on May 10, it will feature the new Legend Newcastle, plus some significant changes to the game’s Storm Point map.

The main additions are a new point of interest based on and around the carcass of a giant sea monster, and a new PVE minigame involving long-dormant IMC armories resurfaced and activated by seismic activity.
