Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip line of foldables could get a long-awaited battery upgrade this year, according to our friends at Galaxy Club. The first Galaxy Z Flip didn’t exactly have the best hardware, but that was something that Samsung addressed nicely with its successor, the Galaxy Z Flip 3.
Sadly, the low battery capacity (just 3,300mAh) was something Samsung couldn’t fix, but it looks like the company might finally be doing something about it. Information about the two batteries (Samsung’s folding batteries split the battery into two units) that will likely power the Galaxy Z Flip 4 has surfaced online, and it looks like one of them will have a slightly larger capacity.
100mAh, to be precise, which matches the reduction in battery capacity that Samsung made between the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Galaxy Z Fold 3. Not a huge upgrade, but considering how the components inside the foldables Since Samsung is already fighting for space, it’s good to see that the Korean giant isn’t just sticking with the same battery size once again.
However, it remains to be seen if Samsung will introduce an upgrade to 25W fast charging. A 3,300mAh battery may seem small, but the 15W charging that Samsung uses in existing Galaxy Z Flip devices is still considerably slow. Average battery life and not-so-fast charging aren’t a good mix, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed. 25W charging is finally coming to the Galaxy Z Flip series this year.
