May Bank Holiday 2022: Dunnes Stores, Tesco, Lidl, Aldi and Supervalu opening hours

Unfortunately, not everyone can take the May Bank Holiday Monday off, and for many, mundane errands, like the weekly grocery shopping, still need to be done.

The bank holiday means that many of our favorite supermarkets will have special opening hours. Typically, on a bank holiday, stores will operate on their Sunday hours, which means they open later and close earlier in the day.

Given that the weather will be mixed, you’re probably still wondering if you should grab a barbecue or stock up on snacks for a movie marathon.

Regardless of what Met Éireann declares, here are the up-to-date opening hours of some of the most popular supermarkets:


Aldi stores are open from Monday to Saturday from 09:00 to 22:00 and on Sunday from 09:00 to 21:00, however some stores operate slightly differently. You can visit the store locator function here for the specific opening hours of your local store.


Lidl generally operates within the opening hours of 09:00 to 21:00 on public holidays. However, you can check their store search tool. here for more information on your local store.


Tesco stores across Ireland are open from 08:00 to 22:00 on Saturday and Sunday, with most stores keeping these hours for Bank Holiday Monday. However, select stores will be open for slightly shorter hours from 09:00 to 21:00 on Monday. You can contact your local store for more details.
